KOOTASCA Community Action
Founded by local citizens in 1965, KOOTASCA Community Action helps individuals, families, and communities fight the multiple causes and challenges of poverty.
- Through comprehensive crisis support, anti-poverty services, and partner referral, we help people to help themselves make meaningful change in their lives and journey out of poverty.
- Our mission, “Building Community to End Poverty,” is a collaborative effort with our community to change attitudes and mindsets about poverty, to change the systems that affect people in poverty, and to engage all community members in creating a community that provides opportunities for everyone.

⏰ Important July 1st Energy Assistance Deadline! ⏰
If you submitted an application but it was missing information, all you need to do is get the missing info to us by 7/1/26 and we can reactivate your application and finish processing!
✅ Last day to submit info for incomplete applications
✅ Last day households denied for “Insufficient Info” can submit their missing information to reactivate/complete their original application
✅ Last day to submit Crisis requests (crisis includes heat/power shut off or with a disconnect notice, delivered fuel at 20% or less, OR households with a member age 60+ with any balance due)
To meet the deadline, you must contact KOOTASCA's Energy Assistance office at (218) 999-0824 or eap.support.info@kootasca.org by 4:30 pm on July 1st.
Please note that this deadline is for applications that have already been approved or are pending approval. The deadline for submitting a new application was May 31st; if you would like to request an application for the next program year please contact us after September 1st.
