KOOTASCA Community Action

Founded by local citizens in 1965, KOOTASCA Community Action helps individuals, families, and communities fight the multiple causes and challenges of poverty.

  • Through comprehensive crisis support, anti-poverty services, and partner referral, we help people to help themselves make meaningful change in their lives and journey out of poverty.
  • Our mission, “Building Community to End Poverty,” is a collaborative effort with our community to change attitudes and mindsets about poverty, to change the systems that affect people in poverty, and to engage all community members in creating a community that provides opportunities for everyone.

📢 Koochiching County Point in Time (PIT) Count 📢

🔵 We know homelessness in our communities is often invisible - which is why we need your help to spread the word. The PIT Survey is for those who will/did stay in one of the following places on the night of January 22nd · Outdoors · Couch hopping · Car/vehicle · Abandoned building/house without utilities. · An RV or camper without utilities · Fish house, storage, or barn

🔵 Results from this count will help bring funds and services to our community for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. These surveys also help us better understand the needs of our neighbors without stable housing so we can better educate our community and provide services.

🚩 For info about the Itasca County Point in Time Count, see our January 10th post. Surveys will be conducted from 1/20 - 1/30 in both counties.
